New Code of Ordinances

Since 2007, the Township, in cooperation with Municipal Code Corporation, has been undergoing a project to create a new Code of Ordinances. This project will result in nearly all of the Township’s ordinances being consolidated into one document. Some ordinances, such as the Zoning Ordinance and Water & Sewer Ordinance are not being included because they are amended on a more frequent basis. The new draft Code of Ordinances does not involve the creation of new ordinances, but is simply a consolidation of the Township’s many ordinances into one, user-friendly document. The Township Board will be introducing the new draft Code of Ordinances at its August 11, 2008 meeting, and plans on adopting the ordinance at its September 8, 2008 meeting. After adoption, the new Code of Ordinances will be available at http://www.municode.com/, as well as at the Township’s website, http://www.gainestownship.org/, and in hard copy at the Township Offices. Township officials are confident that the new Code of Ordinances will improve residents’ access to the Township’s various ordinances and will be a much improved, user-friendly document. In the future, as ordinances are amended, or new ordinances are adopted, they will be available here at the Township Offices and will be periodically updated at the MuniCode website, http://www.municode.com/.
