The American Cancer Society would like to extend an invitation for you to join them again this year to celebrate breast cancer survivorship and remember those who have been lost to the disease at their 12th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. This year's event will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Calder Plaza in Grand Rapids.
There is no pre-event registration required , just bring your registration form and donations with you to the registration tent that will be locaced at Calder Plaza on October 17th. Township Residents Leaf Collection Drop Off Station
Gaines Charter Township will be offering a leaf collection/recycling drop off site at Township Offices (8555 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Caledonia, Mi 49316) for residents on:
- Fri. & Sat., October 23rd & 24th from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (only)
- Fri. & Sat., October 30th & 31st from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (only)
- Fri. & Sat., November 6th & 7th from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (only)
The leaf collection/recycling drop off site is limited for use by Gaines Charter Township residents only. There are no plastic bags, metal, trash, plastic, stone or concrete allowed. For more information please contact Township Offices at 616-698-6640.

August Planning Commission Meeting Cancelled
Please note that the August 27, 2009 Planning Commission meeting has been canceled due to a lack of sufficient agenda items and formal applications.

"Fill the Boot Campaign"
Update: The Dutton and Cutlerville Firefighters raised a total of $6204.10 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through their volunteer efforts. Way to go guys!
The Dutton and Cutlerville Firefighters will be volunteering their time to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Saturday, August 29th from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. They will be located at the corner of 68th Street and Division Avenue collecting donations. It is all part of the "Fill the Boot" Campaign, so look for the guys with the fire boots.
All proceeds will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Come on out on August 29th and show your support for a good cause. Let's see if we can "Fill the Boot"!

Resource Day of Hope for Individuals and Families Experiencing Job Loss or Reduction
Transition toward the future is a day of hope for individuals and families experiencing job loss or reduction in income due to the economy. There are two dates for this event: Saturday, August 15th from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm and on Thursday, August 20th from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.
The event will include several presentations and offer a host of resources. No registration is required and there is no charge for the event.
